We’d recommend speaking to your GP about this because a hernia may be exacerbated by POWERbreathe training.
My father is 84 years old and got the Covid19 at the beginning of this year. I hope to help him increase the exercise of lung muscles, so I found your company’s products. At present, my father has basically recovered, he can walk by himself, and his blood oxygen is about 94-96. I saw that there is a parameter in your company’s product introduction: Breathing load: 23cmH2O – 186cmH2O. Another Breathing load is 17cmH2O-98H2O. I want to be guided as to which product I should choose is more suitable. I hope the breathing load of the product is wider, but I am worried that 23cmH2O will be too difficult for my father as a starting point. Looking forward to your guidance, thank you very much for your help! Reply
Hello, and thank you for your enquiry. We’re very pleased to hear how your father has improved since having had covid-19. May I first explain that we are not medical professionals so always recommend anyone with a medical condition speak to their medical professional before starting any form of ‘exercise’, including inspiratory muscle training. You are correct; IMT may represent an important home-based COVID-19 rehabilitation strategy and so would be worth investigating this more with your father’s medical professional. And, for your father, we would suggest using the POWERbreathe Medic Plus IMT device. This is because it offers the lowest entry-level load of any threshold IMT device, as demonstrated in the table below. You can read more about how POWERbreathe IMT is helpful in covid recovery here. And finally, we wish your father well and a full recovery. Reply
